"Lord Shiva is Gangadhara, the bearer of river Ganga. He holds the Ganga, which is of the nature of immortality, on His head eternally. Ganga is synonymous with gentle coolness. No matter how turbulent the situation, the Lord’s head and inner realm remains peaceful. Though the head is cool, the heart is always warm with compassion for the world. In order to save the world from the detrimental effect of the all-destructive Kalakuta poison, Paramashiva, the Supreme Lord, drank it. Through His personal example, Lord Shiva teaches us that what we need is a cool head and a warm heart. But what we see in the world today is the very opposite: most people are hot-headed and cold-hearted. Everyone’s head is heated up by worldly thoughts, and the heart has become frosty with selfishness. • BHAJAN PRACTICE, 4:00 PM at Bryans in Paia. Please call Bryan for directions 283-9798. Everyone is welcome to come learn bhajans. We are excited to start practice for our set in San Ramon to sing for Amma and for the next fundraising concert. If you would like to lead a song for Amma in June, you must come to practice. It is such a special gift to sing for Amma. 

Saturday 7 March 

• IAM 20 CLASS, 1:00-3:00 at the Maui Yoga Shala, 381 Baldwin Ave. in Pais.  Come learn the IAM 20, the powerful 20 minute mediation created by Amma. This is a user friendly version of the IAM, accessible and for the general public. Friends, coworkers, and non-devotees all welcome.

Saturday 14 March

• IAM Guided Practice, 4:00 PM guided group practice held before satsang for those who have taken the original IAM class. Bring a yoga mat or towel.

February Satsang Activities

"Modern science has proven that the river Ganges has the power to destroy germs. Likewise, there is a Ganges within us which has the power to purify our mind. That is why it is said that Ganges flows from the head of Lord Shiva. When we reach perfection through meditation, we become Him, the possessor of Ambrosia. The pure Ganges rises up from within. That is what is depicted as the Goddess Ganga hiding in the matted hair of Lord Shiva."

 "Shiva represents the aspect of Brahman, which cleanses us of all impurities. Brahman alone can remove all our impurities. In the Puranic story, it was Shiva who took the prarabdhas of others and swallowed them Himself. 

Shiva is the divine filter that receives the prarabdhas and impurities of the people, thereby making them pure."

"Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva create, nourish and destroy desires respectively. Man creates and nourishes desires but does not destroy them. Children, destruction of desire is what is needed." Amma
